Winter has finally made its arrival here. We got 1-3 inches of snow beginning overnight and it's continuing at a lighter pace for now.[/quote]
We're slated for 8" or more here...

Deshler Ohio-crossroads of the B&O Matt eats your fries.YUM! Clinton st viaduct undefeated against too tall trucks!!!(voted to be called the "Clinton St. can opener").
rdamonMy thoughts are on the same line. If it was a rogue transmitter it would raise and lower the door. I would check the limits and increase the down force.
Made some screwdriver adjustments on the down force and, for now, things seem to be working correctly.
I actually decreased the down force...
Still have the boxcar on our dock at work.Ns was clear otherwise at work.Went into town to do errands. The bank tellers had to go outside. The ATM ate someones card.Glad tomorrow is Friday.Going to go check on brother this weekend.
Joe - If you're headed for Deshler tonight, stay away from 18/65 - bad accident.
After about eight inches of snow, the sun has come out here. Hopefully tomorrow is a good travel day. I'm pretty much packed for the big train show in MA.
evening
Still have the boxcar on the dock.Ns was clear otherwise.Heard Csx coming into town when we got home. Finally got yesterdays mail today.Calling for snow squalls at times with wind this time.Makes travel tricky.Going to check on brother in the morning.Larry have a safe trip.Watch for Mr.Chuck if possible.Time for supper.
We're having a cold snap (teens and single digits) for the next couple of days with varying amounts of snow depending on where you live. A warmup to closer to normal temps is forecast by next weekend. I really can't complain since this winter has been almost unusually mild.
Checked on brother today. He is doing ok.Ns was running trains as well. Was able to get an Amtrak heritage unit on the lake shore. Also saw 256 one of the remaining triple crown trains. Also Sdi in Butler has a new critter to help the switchers.Going to get ready for supper.College boy is going to be our uber.

good morning
Plenty of movements per the webcams.Local station made mention of the tank plant in Lima.Going to get breakfast.
Met another denizen of the railroad forums at the show today. Haven't heard today's attendance today yet. Yesterday saw over 11,000...
Faced with a 4.5 hour drive home, and a stop to unload the show kit, I'm staying in MA tonight and will hit the road tomorrow morning, right after breakfast.
Still have the boxcar and Ns added a flat car sometime. They also have a couple cars across the street.Mother nature gave use a bit of snow this morning.Guessers say sunny but cold next few days.Chores to do.
The drive home was largely uneventful - a little snow but no accumulation on the roads.
Got the show materials unloaded, then sat in on a birthday/baby shower/going away celebration for one of our employees.
I was within a half hour of reaching the house when the fire department for the area I was driving through was dispatched for a car fire next to a building, so I swung over.
It was Jeep, burning pretty well in the engine compartment.
No injuries, but the Jeep is toast.
Attendance at the big show in Massachusetts was GATE: 18,369...TOTAL POPULATION: 21,869. The second number includes the vendors.
We're back home again and pretty well recovered from a 24-hour stretch of no sleep (787 Dreamliner didn't live up to its name, even in Premium Economy). Before we left, I did manage to get a picture of a small 0-4-2 steam engine sitting on display in a bar and grill on Maui, formerly used by the sugar cane industry.
Edit: As far as how the vacation went, it could have been better. For the five nights that we were there, Maui was pretty much under assault from Mother Nature with rain everywhere, sometimes at the rate of up to 3" an hour. Needless to say, it resulted in flash flooding in stream beds that are normally dry on the west side of the island. One of the events that we were signed up for, an evening dinner cruise on a catamaran, was cancelled. We did manage to enjoy a luau and complete a drive around the Road To Hana loop before the heavy rains arrived, though.

Ns has 2 empties in our building.Looked like they have a coal train parked in the other siding.College boy is adjusting to getting up and going to work ok.Chores to do here.Sunshine is nice but it is still Brrr.
Still have the boxcar. The empty flat was taken out and Ns brought in a new one.Didn't see anything else on Ns after work.Ran errands and didn't see anything on Csx.Tomorrow is groundhog day.Around here if we see them they usually don't last too long.
2 empties for Ns in our building.Didn't see anything else on Ns after work.Csx was clear as well.Had some deer come on our side of the creek during supper last night.Glad tomorrow is Friday.Plenty of errands to do this weekend.
Mild, but windy, right now - temperature is right at freezing, but the wind is pretty gusty. I can definitely feel it in the house. That heated waterbed is going to feel really good tonight.
Cold front coming through tonight with sub-zero temperatures that are supposed to hang on for a day or so.
Bad accident in the middle of some lake effect snow yesterday. Three semi's and nine cars. Three people were transported, and the jaws had to be used to free a couple of folks wedged under a semitrailer.
Pizza's in the oven, then off to the fire meeting.
Empty boxcar and flat car on our dock at work.Ns was clear uptown. While doing errands tomorrow going to check an abandoned factory site. They are tearing the building down.It sits between Csx and the NDW.Wouldn't be surprised if the NDW picks up some extra yard space.Chores to do here at home.
Currently -7.2F, with a wind chill of -18.9F, and it's supposed to get colder tonight.
Fortunately, by Monday we're supposed to see above freezing temperatures again...
Edit: At daybreak we had -27°F. Brrrr.
The warmup is starting with us today with temps expected to get into the low 30's this afternoon. We may reach the 40's by Tuesday.
Did errands this morning.Saw the demo work near Fc.Csx Mow have really cleaned up the area on their side.Nephew is working on a sign for us.Have a birthday party to go to tonight. Will watch Csx tomorrow morning.

Likewise.
Meanwhile, we're up to +4.7°F at 3 PM.
Not too much to report on Csx.Did go look at the NDW.Seems the swamp is starting to creep in on their new construction.Ns is still cleaning up the mess in eastern Ohio.Chores to do here.Back to work tomorrow.
Mid 40's today for my trip to my daughter's house for granddaughter's birthday. A light mist on the way home, but nothing significant.
The garage door issue has a new development. It had been mentioned that if it was a rogue transmitter causing my door to open unexpectedly, that it would close unexpectedly as well. Well, today, it did just that, leading me to wonder how often it's opened and closed without me realizing it. I close it when I leave, and it's still closed when I get home. Perhaps it opened, then closed again while I was gone.
I'm getting another Blink camera to put inside the garage so that will trip when the door moves, too...

We've got a Liftmaster garage door opener that is equipped with WiFi, and get notices via its MyQ app every time the door opens and closes. I also attached an add-on camera to the opener (magnetic base), so I can see why it opened/closed. Great peace of mind!
There should be a proceedure to clear all learned remotes from the opener.
The wifi based openers are nice for the alerts and opening with the phone.
rdamonThere should be a proceedure to clear all learned remotes from the opener.
It's an older opener, but there probably is. The problem seems to be one of the new remotes I got not that far back.
Still no movement of the empties on our dock by Ns.Took a slight detour on our way home to help a fellow co-worker out.Got some assorted Ho scale trains form another co-worker.Her husband bought a lot at an auction. He kept the O gauge and said we could have the Ho stuff.Going to test the engines.Going to get some gusty winds the guessers say and plenty of rain.
