Erik_MagBasal cell carcinoma?
Doc said melanoma. I'm led to believe that it's the benign version. They'd be more concerned if it were carcinoma. Both cancers, though.

Basal cell carcinoma? I've had four of those removed over the last 17 years, three on my face (Mohs surgery) and one on my back (excision). The surgeries weren't all that bad and I'm having reguar checkups with my dermatologist.
I was talking with my boss about about one ofthe recent Mohs surgeries, and she mentioned that there was something funny about a spot on her nose. I advised her to have a dermatologist about it and that started a process of her finding out about other issues in addtion to the spot on her nose.
Glad to hear your surgerues went well.
JoeKohHad a power outage this morning so I got to reset the clocks.
Five minutes fast, like the siren in Deshler?
Ns had trains uptown.Have had on and off sprinkles.Humidity is up there.Had a power outage this morning so I got to reset the clocks.Chores to do.
Enjoying some nice weather - cool at night, around +80F during the day. Better than the hot and humid we've been experiencing.
evening
Ns had some trains uptown after work.Came home and took care of the yardwork.Might get some rain here tomorrow.Larry good to know grand-dog is doing well.Does the store give out treats for dogs? some do around here.Time for supper.
Weather here overnight. The worst of it stayed north of the St Lawrence River, including a wind/tornatdo event up towards Ottawa.
A brief, but heavy, downpour dropped a quarter inch of rain in my rain gauges in about 15 minutes, while 5 miles away, they got none.
This morning it was pleasand sunshine, and cooler temperatures. Not complaining.
Dog-sitting going wel. She's comfortable here, and even remembers the route to walk to the post office and conveience store...
Looked like Ns had one uptown after work today.Heard the local come by when I was going to lunch.Last evening waited for a conductor friend to come by on Csx.Csx was it's usual jammed up self.Got a look in the Defiance yard too.Not many tracks left. The caboose is still there as well.Going to work on some chores.

morning
More rain overnight.Csx ran 1 eastbound while we had our walk this morning.Very muggy and more rain coming.Need to catch up on chores here.Back to work tomorrow.
Walked between rain showers this morning.Csx sent a grain train to the elevator west of town.Engines are pointed the wrong way when they come back out.Went down to Van Wert for the train show.Picked up a couple things.Rain should hold off until tomorrow.Going to have supper in Sherwood tonight.
Ns had a train uptown after work.Matt is back home now working on his engines.Going to make supper here in a bit.Chances for rain this weekend according to the guessers.
tree68Picked up the grand0dog today. Her family is headed for the Jersey Shore for the week. On the trip I encountered wet roads, but no rain. On the way home I apparently missed a pretty good downpour, as several cars were pulled to the shoulder with their four-ways on. Thought we were going to get slammed last night, but Lake Ontario moderated it for us. Syracuse got hit pretty good.

Cars that pull over and stop during a 'Florida Frog Drowner' form of downpour are putting themselves in more danger than if the slow down - way down and keep moving at the speed that they can control their vehicle. A moving target is harder to hit than one that is stopped on the side of the road.
Never too old to have a happy childhood!

Looked like Ns had 2 trains uptown after work.Csx ran an empty coal train eastbound as I was doing errands.Saw a fellow coworker at the store. They were buying a new refrigerator. They had help to get it home.I picked up my stuff to finish neighbors project.Best 5 ft section of landscaping our other neighbor will have.Glad tomorrow is Friday.Going down to Van Wert Saturday with Matt for the annual train show there.
Electroliner 1935 I have seen large (500 pair) telephone cables become pelletized after faults.
I think I've told this story, but...
Several years ago, my fire department was dispatched for a grass fire along a state highway.
We get there, ans sure enough, a long line of small grass fires, along the pole line.
I make our folks hold off until we figured out exactly what was going on. The fire wasn't going much of anywhere, and it appeared there might be primaries involved.
As it turned out, a recent wind event had disconnected a primary from it's insulator, on the downwind side (prevailing winds). The primary was hanging down below the crossarm, still secured by the two adjacent poles.
The day of the incident, the wind had changed to the opposite direction.
As with most utility poles, there were muliple users - power, fiber, phone.
The wind blew the primary into the steel carrier/messenger to which the fiber optic line was secured. Said steel cable instantly became a heatng element for about three poles in either direction. One span crossed the state highway.
The fiber line was vaporized.
Drivers passing the scene at the time didn't know what to think.
Before we had a chance to notify anyone, a fiber customer troubleshooter showed up on the scene - he was checking on several outages. I wonder why...
The telco spent several days splicing in a patch.
After we were sure there were no live wires involved, we put the fires out.
Interesting call...
Didn't see Ns or Csx stopped anywhere today after work. Was reading about how the Katy Unit came on Csx on I 192 today.Matt had more parts come in the mail for his trains.Swamp is all done.Time for supper.
I blew up when I was told by a telephone company outside plant engineer "Ground is Ground". This was when we were working on service to a 138 KV substation that had two 40 MVA transformers. When there are faults, ground currents can exceed 5,000 amps. And it wants to go to the area away from the fault. The copper pairs are grounded at the central office. And like lava from a olcano, This current wants to flow and now. I have seen large (500 pair) telephone cables become pelletized after faults. As you said lightning does whatever it wants.
When electronics that operate on millivolts get struct by lightning in the millions of volts - carnage ensues
Two ground rods, plus all antennas pass through Polyphasers at the base of the tower, obviously also tied to ground.
My tower is actually not as high as some nearby spruces, but that means nothing.
But , as we recently found out with an area repeater, lightning does what it wants. It hasn't been determined exactly what got hit - we think it was the electrical service. Everything, repeat, everything in the shelter got fried. radios, solar chargers, you name it.
Fortunately, there was a back-up repeater not on site. The antenna systems seem to be OK - I was running a net on that machine this morning. An APRS machine is in the process of being replaced via a donation.
I'm not a grounding expert, but I've got a good idea, and am doing the best I can.
tree68 fifty foot tower about 20 feet away, thunder in the area.

Larry, out of curiosity: Do you have a ground system at the base of the tower? I would suspect that you would have at least one ground rod nearby, but a few radial wires would help with improving lightning protection by reducing effective ground impedance. Think capacitor in parallel with a resistor.

There will be a brief pause while I join all the neighbors out dancing in the rain in the middle of the street. 10% chance of rain turned into buckets coming in waves and it's not done yet! (on the eve of an enforced water use restriction/reduction no less)

Looked like Ns had one uptown after work today.Csx is still jammed up.Had a meeting in Deshler.Stayed after and trimmed around the park so Tim can mow it.Gueesers say triple h's tomorrow.Need to get my meeting notes posted and get to bed.
tree68Rain, and pretty much nobody is complaining - things were getting pretty dry. My weather station claims only 0.17" of rain today, but I know that's a lie, because a physical rain guage is currently showing well over an inch. The center tube is full, and I have to empty that and pour what's in the overflow tube into the center tube to find out how much over an inch we've gotten. A new tipping bucket assembly for the weather station sensor arrived today, but I'm not going to stand on a ladder in the rain to change it...
