Picked up the grand0dog today.  Her family is headed for the Jersey Shore for the week.  On the trip I encountered wet roads, but no rain.

On the way home I apparently missed a pretty good downpour, as several cars were pulled to the shoulder with their four-ways on.

Thought we were going to get slammed last night, but Lake Ontario moderated it for us.  Syracuse got hit pretty good.

Cars that pull over and stop during a 'Florida Frog Drowner' form of downpour are putting themselves in more danger than if the slow down - way down and keep moving at the speed that they can control their vehicle.  A moving target is harder to hit than one that is stopped on the side of the road.

Weather here overnight.  The worst of it stayed north of the St Lawrence River, including a wind/tornatdo event up towards Ottawa.

A brief, but heavy, downpour dropped a quarter inch of rain in my rain gauges in about 15 minutes, while 5 miles away, they got none.

This morning it was pleasand sunshine, and cooler temperatures.  Not complaining.

Dog-sitting going wel.  She's comfortable here, and even remembers the route to walk to the post office and conveience store...

Follow-up today on the removal of a couple of lesions on my face - they got it all (basel cell melanoma) and they don't want to see me again...

Enjoying some nice weather - cool at night, around +80F during the day.  Better than the hot and humid we've been experiencing.

Basal cell carcinoma? I've had four of those removed over the last 17 years, three on my face (Mohs surgery) and one on my back (excision). The surgeries weren't all that bad and I'm having reguar checkups with my dermatologist.

I was talking with my boss about about one ofthe recent Mohs surgeries, and she mentioned that there was something funny about a spot on her nose. I advised her to have a dermatologist about it and that started a process of her finding out about other issues in addtion to the spot on her nose.

Glad to hear your surgerues went well.

Basal cell carcinoma?

Doc said melanoma.  I'm led to believe that it's the benign version.  They'd be more concerned if it were carcinoma.  Both cancers, though.

Why stop at 17-18K foot trains - lets go for 20K. [/sarcasm]  Maybe they can even have Foote walk one for a Defect Detector Malfunction on a 33 degree night in a driving rain.

Add in several 10 degree curves with super elevation.  A prescription for injuries.

Returned the grand-dog to her home Monday.  As we entered the development where my daughter and  her family live, she (the pup) perked up - she knew where she was, although we were still a half mile from the house.

The other half of the the day's trip was attending the committal of a friend's mother.  This veteran of the Army nursing corps lived to be 100.  In addition to the Ukranian church service, she received military honors.

Ended the day closing a road for a neighboring fire department as the result of a two vehicle head-on collision.  Two patients were flown to a trauma center, another went by ground to a local hospital.  One required extensive extrication.  It must have been very serious, as the state police did a rather extensive investigation.

Today was supposed to be the hottest day of the week here, with highs approaching 100.  That certainly didn't pan out- we had severe storms mid-morning, and the sky finally cleared within the last hour.  Temp is only 81.

Saw a SB taconite(?) unit train at Neenah on CN this aft. Had BLE ore Jenny cars. They weren't tagged. Would this traffic go by ore boat normally?  Or maybe to Granite City?  It met with a NB unit oil train. Two commodities that built the country.
