Deshler Ohio-crossroads of the B&O Matt eats your fries.YUM! Clinton st viaduct undefeated against too tall trucks!!!(voted to be called the "Clinton St. can opener").
Felt like a Monday today. No change from what I saw on ns after work. Catching up on chores and errands today.Tomorrow night is a meeting for the Histoical society in Deshler. I also need to take back some spoons from Sunday.
Went back to Deshler for the cookout.Everyone had a good time.Got to see another large log car from the Wisconsin Central. They are coming from Wisconsin to Csx.M353 has been taking them east.M 566 also had a large load of poles as well today.Guessers are saying hot until Wed. then the temprature drop comes just in time for fall.Back to work tomorrow.
A cookout sounds good, but I'm not into 16 hours of driving to partake...

Went to Deshler today.Met new friends.I 192 had a trailer on a spine car with a slight lean.M 560 had a boxcar where it looked like someone tried to do a ballet move with a forklift.Going back tomorrow for a cookout. Also heard it might be November before a local crossing gets fixed too by the park.Time to clean up.
mudchicken Must be an airshow around here somewhere. B-17 (olive green w/ red flaps & tail) and an AT-6 have been flying around here for the past few days (sometimes in formation)

We have stuff uptown but Ns hasn't moved it.Came and took care of the yardwork.Have a couple new speed bumps into our place.Ups truck is really going to like that.Time for supper.
Rode the first official passenger trip to Tupper Lake today (see Harrison's post) - the first occupied passenger trip in over 40 years on that segment of the line.
The work that was done on the line was first class - many folks commented on how smooth the tracks are. The work was done to Class 4 standards, although we'll likely hold our speeds to 40 MPH so the passengers can actually see the scenery as we go up the line...
NS looked the same as yesterday.Ran errands in town.Didn't see anything on csx.Word is that I 192 is coming to Ohio with the NYC(1066) heritage unit leading.By the time it gets here it will be my bedtime and dark.Time for supper.
Just found out that UP was involved with the credit Mobilier scandal. Grant's VP Achuyler Colfax even testified before Congress to clear his name. So former VP Pence cannot say a VP has never testified before a congressional committee.
A vice president testified before Congress. It was a disaster. (msn.com)
Randy liked your wal-mart peel back trailer pictures.Ns had cars uptown and a train as well. Some of the doors were shut where I work this morning.Hint of Fall.Thought I would have another errand today but the guys in the big garbage truck showed up.Going to get ready to go to town.
Left the house yesterday morning in a light rain, and while it's dry down here in West Memphis, there are reports of anywhere between 6 and 12 inches of rain back home. At least it didn't come down all at once, but there are reports of some minor flooding issues. Heading to Zachary, LA, today, and turning for Chicago with a load for Wednesday............

Went over to Deshler today.Csx was backed up as usual. One crew had a long ride back from Chicago in a cab because they had to wait for another in Garrett.I 015 was 15 000 ft long.Plus there is a 25 mph speed restriction for trains going east or west on the diamond.Matt is working with his Model railroad group in Fostoria coming up.On the way home saw someone set off a set of well cars in the east yard lead in Defiance.Rain on and off next few days.Back to work tomorrow.
Ns had cars uptown and one on the main after work today.Went and checked on my brother. The one place in town was closed for the season.so we drove along US 6 over to Butler Indiana. There we got some goodies and Ns sent a mix of trains.Need to do some chores here.
Got the railroad's booth all set up for this weekend's train show. Still have to run off a couple of things to add to the handouts.
It's usually a good show. Best part is that I'm less than 10 minutes from home, so can sleep in my own bed each night...
BaltACD CSSHEGEWISCH I'm beginning to think that Amazon routers and drivers have almost no idea as to what they are doing. Sometimes, when I'm driving home from the train station, I will see two or three Amazon vans within a block or two of each other heading in completely different directions. Locally Amazon announced the closing of TWO warehouses, I have no idea how many warhouses they have in the area in total, but obviously more than two. I suspect, but don't know, that each warehouse supports a set of drivers for delivery of the stock they hold. I suspect the 'logistics plan' for Amazon, UPS and FedEx are all closely held proprietary data.

Amazon is reducing their warehouse space in the Atlanta area. Maybe volume is down post-covid or they are getting more efficient.

GrampUSPS has packages in normal mail routes and package only routes.
USPS has several routes in this area that run on Sundays to deliver packages. This past winter, one of the drivers mistook a driveway/trail as where they needed to go to make a delivery. They got stuck.
Our UPS comes out of Oshkosh. FedEx and Amazon come from our airport. I know Amazon drivers follow GPS routings that foul them up at times. And there are multiple sortings throughout the day that are loaded on vans and sent out. Vans crisscross each other continually. USPS has packages in normal mail routes and package only routes.
tree68 BaltACD My snail mail appears to have a new carrier. Previously mail would normally get delivered sometime between 1130 and 1300. This week it has been between 1630 and 1745. Such is life. One of the package services regularly hits my house after 5PM, despite the fact that I see their trucks go by the house all day, and even stopping at my neighbors...

Where I live, UPS and FedEx attack my area from two directions. UPS sends local delivery vans from Frederick and Baltimore. FedEx sends their delivery operations from Hagerstown and Baltimore. There have been times when I have seen both deliveries from each carrier in the neighborhood at the same time.
I may be mistaken but I think UPS delivery drivers are given a print out of their delivery route that takes into consideration each address they are to deliver to and the company driving rules concerning left turns.
Ns had cars uptown after work. The main looked clear from what I saw.Have chores to do here at home.Hugs to those across the pond since her majesty passed away today.
Seemed like a Monday today back at work.Ns had cars uptown. They also had a stack train parked uptown too.Came home and took care of the yardwork.Neighbor asked if we needed some homemade salsa. She will bring some over when its done.Time to get cleaned up.
