My farther's push pull amp tubes just do not seem to work correctly with claimed matched vacuum tubes. However the boxes have no country of origin.
Both Cajon/Hesperia cams have been down for two days, dangit.
EDIT: UP Lordsburg sub is temporarily closed due to Amtrak passenger incident just east of Willcox.
blue streak 1 Is it still true that most vacuum tubes now originate in Russia?
Not likely. Visit your nearest Guitar Center or Sam Ash store to inspect the box. One brand originates in SoCal, not sure of where it is made.
As far as superior tonal quality, call me skeptical. The tubes above are advertised for rectifier replacement (interestingly not preamp section). Barring supply chain issues, todays semiconductor component options are impressive compared to my 50 y/o college radio days when we designed and built our own [analog] amplifiers; they were better and cheaper than commercial amps.
EDIT: just recalled that back in the day Russian tech was pretty impressive. When the MIG-25 Foxbat was inspected c.1976 it was found that the radar system was entirely tube based with good performance.
Links to my Google Maps ---> Sunset Route overview, SoCal metro, Yuma sub, Gila sub, SR east of Tucson, BNSF Northern Transcon and Southern Transcon *** Why you should support Ukraine! ***
That says a few things about the level of Russian technology as a whole. In the same vein, I remember reading some years back that audiophiles were claiming that recording equipment based on tube technology would reproduce sound in a richer, fuller sense. I suppose that it would take a pretty sensitive ear to discern the difference.

BART (SFBA) had one of its rare sun kinks and 'minor' derailments last night. The route has no grade seps and is often elevated so the passengers got lucky.
It wasn't that far from my doctors office in Pleasant Hill where it has been just over 100F the last three days; the whole East Bay will be at least 90F for the next week. Skins and short weather has arrived ....
A new railcam has gone online in Kingman AZ (BNSF): https://www.youtube.com/c/RailFanArizona There are also cams in Willcox AZ (UP), Winslow AZ (BNSF), Wilmot (UP, east Tucson) and Tacna AZ (UP). The channel owners intend to complement the many VR channel cams for Southwest US locations. Gallup NM (BNSF) is coming soon .... They all need your sponsorship help - please donate if you can.

First day of vacation.Csx Mow was out everywhere. Was told they are going to replace boxes, signals and wiring on the CSX side at Fc.Csx ran some trains as well. The ND&W came picked up from Csx then brought some back. The 3001 was pushing the cars into the interchange. Then the ND&W 3054 and Elkhart unit 2045 took a train west across the diamond.Would have followed them further but there was an accident at US 24 and 127 near Cecil.Going to load pictures.

Momma and I went down to nephews shop.Saw a westbound on the NKP on the way home.Intersection of US 127 and US 224 north of Van Wert was torn apart.College boy stopped by and we did a couple small projects. We then went to Marion.North Baltimore and Csx was clogged as usual.CSX ran 4 coal trains through Marion.2 on the NYC/Erie and 2 on the C&O. Also explained to some new railfans why North is west and South is east in Marion. When we came home trains were still waiting in Deshler.Mother nature going to warm us up this week.

Sounds like symptoms of CRS.
Never too old to have a happy childhood!
Turns out I hadn't even gotten them. Paid at the door and went to the seminars.
Satruday I ventured north of the border for an amateur radio event in Smith's Falls, Ontario. Nice event - met some folks I've talked to on the radio. Didn't buy anything.
Crossing the border in both directions was zero hassle. Word to the wise - if you want to visit Canada, get the ArriveCAN app on your phone, or whatever. Makes life much easier...
Due to PSR and fewer trains there isn't much to report on the UP Mojave sub, but a well photographed and edited video covering Tehachapi has appeared: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RpRGygks_HY
Mr. Contractor found the problem with our AC.It was a bad capacitor.Work and parts were under warranty.Did errands and gave birthday hugs in town.ND&W has quite a few cars in the siding.Saw a Csx eastbound too.Going to enjoy Mother Natures Free air conditioning this weekend.

Left Portland, OR (55 degrees, fog, light rain) and arrived in Denver to 100 degrees and single digit humidity.
Ns had cars uptown and a train on the main after work.Saw what looked like M 200 go east while doing errands in Defiance.Guessers say big storm coming tonight.Tomorrow and Wed Triple H's and sweat.Time for supper.
Hot down here in West Memphis, AR, this morning already in the mid 80s, getting close to 100 most of the week. New truck with battery APU and auto start/stop working well, nice in the sleeper, although I have heat shields in the windows to help the APU out. This week should be a good torture test for it, headed to near Baton Rouge and back towards home..........

Checked on brother today.Crews were still busy in Edgerton fixing power lines.A storm had caused some power lines to fall along the Ns tracks. An Ns train then ran them over.Took brother over to Butler Indiana.Train 21T came west and turned to go south on the wabash.Meanwhile on Csx M 351 had to wait in the Sw siding at Deshler for an M 560 which was 14,000 ft long.Guessers say an alert day for tomorrow for storms.
College boy was home for a bit.Went for a walk and he got his license renewed afterwards.Csx ran a coal train westbound afterwards.Took him to breakfast for his birthday(which is Tuesday). He was going to stop at G+G house for a bit before going back to Deshler then back to campus.Csx was doing it's usual.A ballast cleaner came out for a bit then right back into track 4.Train 369 was put in the "no crew at Garrett" penalty box in Defiance.A conductor friend came by on I 191 as well.Came home and took care of the yard.Guessers say rain maybe tomorrow.Need to go check on my brother.Good day today.
tree68 BaltACD Checked my Discover account - saw two charges I didn't make. I had a similar experience a couple of years ago. Just happened to check my on-line banking account and found two $900 charges - at two different dollar stores - from Tennessee. I had used the card at a drive-through bank kiosk, so I figure there was a skimmer on it. Reported it in person to the bank. Had a new card that day, with the charges provisionally removed. They were later permanently removed. The curious part is that the charges were at dollar stores. Who spends $900 at a dollar store? Clearly they were in on the scam.

Outside of some routine purchases in my local area, I made a couple of purchases through Amazon. I also had made a motel reservation in Bath, NY in anticipation of competing at Watkins Glen, account race car trouble I had to cancel the reservation as well as my race entry, and received confirmation of both cancellations.
The unknown charges eminated from something called 'Lemonade' for $181 and some sort of wine shop for $1952 and change.
Did a little Google Searching - the 'purchases' appear to be rental fees for a apartment complex in Austin, TX and Renter's Insurance.
Replacement card was received LESS than 24 hours after I reported the issues.

Called Discover - after a 10 minute wait for the Fraud Protection Department to answer they took the information and generated two 'Dispute' cases, cancelled my current card number and said they would issue a new card and number. Less than 4 hours after the call I got a e-mail that the new card had been shipped FedEx, next day air.
Ns had a train waiting when I left work.Went over to Deshler. The Sw connection is now the 4rth resivouir in Deshler.Csx was jammed up as usual.Got trimming done what I could and emptied the garbage.Have another fan group meeting there this weekend.Sent college boy home for supper.Going out for breakfast tomorrow morning.Mother nature is sending the triple h's for next week.
