BOB WITHORN
What are they serving - Veggie soybean burgers, Tofu and Lintil soup?

Menu choices are:

Shrimp, Bay Scallops, and Calamari in Lemon Caper Sauce over Pasta,

Thai Chicken Curry over Rice,

Lasagna

Actually lasagna isn't a bad option, but it's not in my top ten.  I'd probably eat the chicken, but not all folks are into curried food.  And I'm sure there are those who will go for the seafood, but I'm not one of them.

Lentil soup wouldn't be too bad...

I've got a meeting to go to that night, anyhow.

Snow and ice here this morning - not bad at my place but several schools opted to close.

My Internet acted up overnight, too.  Did a little troubleshooting (swapping cables) and when I put everything back together it decided to start working.  I have no idea what I might have done, and I'm pretty good on network issues...

Event planners do need to think beyond themselves and offer mainstream food.

Done the same as you a couple of times when they tried to put all the attendees on a diet "for our own good". Sister in law held Thanksgiving, no meat, she is a vegan, we left early, very early.

I have no idea what will be appetizing to me.

A local charity is having a benefit dinner - none of the three entree's is all that appealing to me, so I won't be going.  If you want to attract a crowd, serve comfort food.

We're supposed to be getting rain here today, too...hasn't started just yet.  And tomorrow afternoon, the rain will be joined by sleet, snow, and maybe other goodies.

Tonight we're taking our daughter out for dinner at Greek Islands, a popular local eatery where I have no idea what will be appetizing to me.  Opaa!  It's Ellen's birthday tomorrow, but their schedule is so tight that this was the best we could do.  She has a dentist's appointment for a birthday present.  Opooh!

Chilly and breezy here today.  The snow stayed to the east of us, but we're under the threat for some tonight.  Nothing major, though.

The county highway guys are busily digging up and old storm drain pipe so they can replace it.  There were several issues.  One was when the contractor put in the outfall pipe for my septic tank (as part of a community project).  Seems bedrock is about 3 feet down.  The drain pipe was laid right on the bedrock, and so was my septic outfall.  You had to see it.

They aren't sure how they're going to deal with fixing it all up.  Should be interesting.

And none of this is on my lot - it's all on the neighbor's.  The only impact on me (besides the sewer pipe, which they did manage to break) was trimming a couple of my trees so the equipment could work.

Looks like I need to get more seed for the birds, too - winter's not quite over yet...

Seventy degrees to blizzard in under 12 hours. Spring? Locusts? Nah, just another day in Colorado. Johnny coulda shut the door when he left town.

12 inches of wet blue snow and we apparently are still in this for 6-8 more hours.

Mudchicken Nothing is worth taking the risk of losing a life over. Come home tonight in the same condition that you left home this morning in. Safety begins with ME.... cinscocom-west

Smile when you go through Surf (Lompoc)!  And enjoy the ride--all of it! Note the large fig tree just to the west of the station in Santa Barbara (on your left).

That 21 or so miles of coast at Vandenberg AFB is some of the most pristene along the coast (not to mention most of the line along the channel).  And you might catch sight of one or two of the space launch complexes, too, if it's light.

Northbound, you'll also pass Pedernales Point (Honda Point), where a number of USN destroyers went aground in 1923.   That'll be just south of Surf.

After a FB report from my daughter and a report by a fellow ham operator of snow in the area, I saw some flurries on the way home from a meeting tonight.

But this is spring in the north country.  We've had some pretty nasty winter storms in April.

Predicting 70 degrees tomorrow in central Iowa.  Thunderstorms for Wednesday. Because of that, they are postponing the state Severe Weather drill scheduled for Wednesday until Thursday.  Snow forcast beginning late Wednesday into Thursday with watches in place for northern Iowa.

I did go back to the extra board last week.  Had to make a few refresher trips.  Went from working every two plus days to working every day.  Now I'm off for the Federal Requirement for 72 hours.

Speaking of weather, fall ended here a couple of weeks ago.   The last of the leaves fell off the trees--I think they were pushed off by the buds of the new leaves coming out.   (Very mild winter.)

Spring got us, though.   We're OK here, but about four weeks ago we had thirteen tornados and two waterspouts within a 100 mile radius, then last week, a bunch of floods.   Maybe an earthquake next week?

That being said, it was officially a mild winter for me, the snow thrower sat in the garage all winted.

Puppy teeth = one of the sharpest substances known to man...

Cold this AM (+16F), but at least it's not snowing like on the coast.  In fact, the sun is shining brightly!

Went to the Scotty Farm in Swink to visit (get my scottie-fix) today. One of those guys comes home with us in a month (in the meantime, the back of my hand got chomped -on by three teething pups)...Seven pups playing tug-o-war with a piece of rope is a riot to watch and listen to.

CShaveRR

Our spring starts today (very shortly!).  Of course, it's tomorrow in the Eastern Time Zone, so everybody's correct.

Ah, yes.  Spring is here - and we just had our first illegal burn call of the season.

A poem my mother taught me:

Spring is sprung,

The grass is riz,

The leaves have come upon the triz.

I wonder were the flowers is...

My grass hasn't started to recover yet, but the tulips are starting to break through.

Brian: Loaded in Sioux City, IA, straightest shot back to Green Bay was US 20 to Dubuque, then US 151 to Fond Du Lac. Much as I'd like to run US 30, way out of route for me..........

Should've come back via US 30- at least you could've kept tabs on the UP Transcon for much of the drive.

Added Mookie's state to the states I have driven in last week, her ShopKo now has toilet paper and Dixie Cup products. Only thing I hate about running out that way is that there is a whole lot of nothing out there, ran US 20 all the way back across Iowa, very boring............

Next week, it's Pennsylvania, probably for most of the week again, hope that the weather is nice...........
