Things phopefully never to be heard on the dispatch office voice tape.
1. It was who that said that the line was OK for dispatch ?
2. Did you say the engineer and conductor were reluctant to complete the trip ?
3. Sorrry the chief said that the time was not right to detour the Amtrak first over the line.
4. Who in engineering last year said the line did not need raising like BNSF did at Devil's Lake ?
5. If those cement cars got wet inside guess we will have some very large rip rap to use somewhere maybe there ?
6. Who the h**l said more rain coming ?
other ?
NBCSN is currently showing practice & qualifying for the USGP from Circuit of the Americas near Austin, TX to see some of the weather being encountered in the area.
Never too old to have a happy childhood!
Possible correction: The cars were probably carrying cement. My guess is the cars would be scrapped, as it would cost more to restore them to service than new cars. The hardened cement would make passible fill material.
Looks like the rain isn't over as the remnants of Patricia are headed that way. Sure be nice to get some of that precip in the Sierras.

Happened in the DFW area. Also the article stated that the cars the derailed were carrying powdered concrete. What happens if water leaks in there and solidies the poweder? The Mythbuster proves even a stick of dynamite wouldn't break it up, so what you do if that happened with the freight cars?
