A while back, I had been switching between Edge and IE11 and didn't notice any difference.   The Rochelle Cam has been repeatedly freezing for some time with Edge, and I decided to try IE11 again, but found out that that option has been removed.   (I hate being controlled by big MS.)

    I still miss XP.

I'm with you!  I hate upgrades... especially FORCED ones.

But, I have been using IE-11 for quite some time and not having any problems.  I am so used to it that I am not sure what the changes were anymore.  Seems to me it moved some things around at the top of the window (tabs are on a separate line now, not mixed with the address area.  But nothing so drastic that I could not get used to it fairly quickly.

I still prefer it over "Edge" or any of the other browsers out there.  Not that the others are "bad" but I am just used to IE and see no reason to have to re-learn things just to use them.

Ditto everything you said, Semper.  Plus, Edge is supposed to be faster but I don't see it ("all computers wait for the user at the same speed").  In addition, I rely heavily on Norton's Password Vault to supply my credentials on lots of web sites; this works very smoothly on  IE 11 but not so nicely with Edge, Firefox, or Chrome.  With IE11, I open the vault when I (very rarely) reboot my machine and forget it.  With the others, I have to reopen the vault every time I restart the browser.

Firefox has been my go-to for a long time and will continue to be so. It allows me to be in control. The others like to monitor your keystrokes.

Windows is trying to let me 'Upgrade' to IE 11, anyone use it and how different is it?

I hate upgrades.

Spent two hours yesterday with my computer upgradeing, added a new program called "3D Printing", and a new 'People Mode', tried to get me to start it.

I use IE 10 and Opera with no problems. Except: When the trains cam times out on Opera, I have to re boot the page, not hitting the arrow. Hitting the arrow brings the cam up without sound.

I'm getting the sound, and the pop-up ad comes up right on schedule...but except for a couple of spots, the screen is black.

Oh, wait a minute...

@rdamon, thanks for the link. Unfortunately, the earthcam.com Times Square webcams don't work on Opera either.

Just tried Firefox v52 ESR, Times Square is fine but trains.com Rochelle is Not. Hmmm ....

Looks like Earthcam has some different interfaces ..

The Times Square camera does not appear to be running Flash as I can open it with the Edge browser .

I've been out of town a few days and since getting back have been unable to view the webcam with either MS Edge or Chrome. Anybody else having issues?

Just noticed that Opera v50 is now blocking Flash players by default. This may start happening on other Chrome based browsers as well.

The 'solution' for Opera is to click the 'install Flash' link; a window top prompt to Allow/Block Flash appears and select 'Allow'. Not sure if this is possible on Edge.

Unfortunately the earthcam.net site hosting the webcam is Braindead and mistakenly thinks my internet connection is too slow. A few other sites also exhibit this pathetic behavior. I've filled out their contact form and we'll see .....

You WILL have the same problem on 99% of U.S. based media sites which use DRM protected Flash players. Lazy, lazy, lazy ...... they should use an HTML5 based player by now.

Today's IG2G3 was pulled by both Salt Lake City "Olympics" units (2001 & 2002 ?; Didn't catch the numbers). Good chance one or both will be on the consist of the return movement this afternoon.

2002 lead 2001 plus two other engines on the eastbound IG3G2.

TRAINS: Ads that fill the window that I carefully tailored to the size of the Rochelle web cam are not appreciated!  In fact, they are probably counterproductive.  How many books or subscriptions to other publications do you think you're going to sell while I'm busy expanding that window, clicking on the X in the upper corner, and then resizing the window again?  Answer: None.

Noticing a few UP trains with SD70M that have looked like they have been resting in the desert for a bit.  Are they pulling units out of storage?

Could be a GE Dash 9-40C.

Thank you, Norm.

The good folks of Rochelle may be a bit angry this afternoon. I put the camera on at about 1635 CDT to see a EB UP train stopped on the far track just short of the west signal bridge. This would put it across the road crossing just beyond the bridge. As Norm's post was coming in, it had just began moving and cleared the diamonds at 1723. It was an intermodal train and he lifted it like he had no technical difficulties.

Hopefully there is no evening rush hour in Rochelle on a Saturday.

Anyone else see that NS unit on the BNSF EB intermodal that just crossed the diamonds at 1124 CDT? What model was that?

It was as big as any modern AC unit you will see, but it still had a conventional cab. Or was it some kind of NS homebuilt job. An odd looking unit.

Sound is really diminished, volumn all the way up, barely hear them cross the diamonds, anyone else with this problem?

I've rebooted everything, no change.

Remember, they also replaced the diamonds making them much quieter.  Now about the only clicking you hear is on the UP track 2 (closest to the camera) when the train hits the electrical isolation joints at the extreme right side of the camera's view.

No this is diminished from yesterday, where I had to turn the sound down when a train rolled by, today, can barely hear it when it does. Everything else works find.
Can the browser turn the sound down???

Assuming Windows (I am using 10, but this should be similar for previous versions, just the actual icons and wording might be different):

Move the mouse to the bottom of the screen on the right side where the task bar icons are (near the time display).  Hover the mouse over each icon to see what title will show up in a small text box near the mouse arrow.  One of the icons should look something like a speaker, either a schematic symbol with some curved lines from one side representing sound waves, or an oblique drawing of a speak cone.  The name that appears should be "Speakers" and a number between 0 and 100 showing how loud they are set to be.  RIGHT-Click on that icon and a context menu will appear.  The top (usually) item will be "Open Volume Mixer" (or similar).  Click on that entry.

This will get you a set of 2, 3, 4 or more vertical sliders for setting the percent of volume for the system as a whole (left most slider) and each input to the speakers from the computer.  When Internet Explorer is active to play sounds, there will be a slider just for it.   Moving the system slider will cause all the sliders to follow it, but you can drag individual sliders down lower than the main one.

Maybe yours got set lower?

As it turns out, As of Monday, Internet Explorer Sound is now a separate enity on my sound when I bring up the sound clicking on the volumn icon, I get two columns, one is system sound, the other is Internet Explorer.

The cam sound comes through the computers speakers, even though I have external speakers plugged into the headset socket of the computer.

Have abandoned IE for the cam, and now use Opera where I get the Cam sound normally with my external speakers.

This has been a wekk that wass. ack, it's only Thursday.

The sound is back on with the Explorer Browser, so I watched both browsers and found that the Opera browser cam is a full thirty seconds behind the Explorer cam. you can guess which I opted for.

But wait, crew working on the diamonds, grinding but I don't know if they were weilding or not.

Eastbound UP train - on the near track - booking right along at about 40 MPH.  Rock steady over the diamonds.
