Showing -8F with a couple of the big trucks there today.
Crew is working on the diamond today - in 3degree weather.
Assuming there was a UP unit leading, then there were four Class 1's represented in seven units on one EB train. Cool.

Bit of color on this cold day ..

Yes it appears snowy - and there seem to be a number of small birds flying around - suspect a grain car going through had been leaking.
Never too old to have a happy childhood!
Logged on at ~2150 to see your "moons". Yeah, I saw a couple of bright white lights but the interesting thing was that I caught a WB BNSF train going about as fast as any train I've ever seen there. I could only hear it and see the occasional reflection off the side of a car (container?). Then the FRED sailed by and, I swear, it only blinked 4 times before it disappeared and everything got quiet.

If you can post here, then you should be able to view the webcam.
Works for me in Windows 10 with both IE-11 and Edge.
Right now, 8:30 in the evening (CST) all I see are two LARGE orange circles (looks a lot like the moon). The camera keeps trying to focus on anything it can, and fails miserably when it is dark.
What error message did you get?

No ... and Welcome!!
Check your browser and security settings. I have had luck with Chrome on a W10 Machine.
I am new here, and tried to access the webcam for the first time. I got an error message. I subscribe to Classic Train but not Trains; is that the problem?
Still in training.
Just watched a Eastbound BNSF train hauling a lot of snow :)
Left some at the diamonds
BaltACD blhanel Looks like they're working on that switch this morning... They will be working on the switch every week of the year - sometimes more than one day a week.

Worse than the problem we saw last winter with not being able to get the switch to the spur open, would be the problem I just saw getting the switch closed again on maniline trackage.
After judicious use of steel toed work boots and actually jumping on the mechanism the trainman finally got the result he wanted at 1146 CST.
I presume it is more than the switch appearing to be closed, but also getting favourable indications on the signals. At 14ºF, was it contraction of the mechanism or the electrical contacts?

So shovel the coal, let this rattler roll.

The two Olympic sister units are back together and heading east ...
Wow .. never thought it would be a odd thing to see a EMD Unit on a BNSF train ..
I do appreciate the updated camera view, but wish I could see the completesignal in the upper right hand corner as it would add to the enticement of the movement of west bound trains.
rdamon Our sticky expired .. :)

It's back!

I just watched the longest train I ever remember seeing. It was a mixed freight with two units up front and one in the middle. I wish i had timed it. It was on UP.
Olympic unit acting as one-unit wonder this morning...
AgentKidSo, 5 million tons out each day must mean five million tons in, but that wouldn't account for the weight of goods in transit. Looks like it is back to the drawing board. Bruce
Looks like it is back to the drawing board.
So find an 'average trainsit time' and multiply it against the 5M tons per day figure.

BaltACDSomewhere between the AAR and the Department of Commerce, someone keeps such statistics.
Thanks for that tip.
I looked at the AAR webpage, and the way they phrase it is, "each day railroads deliver 5 million tons of goods."
So, I guess now I know.
AgentKidJust saw a WB intermodal on BNSF with mostly UPS boxes clear the diamonds at 1319 CST. He had just met an EB with roughly the same consist. This got me to thinking, has anyone ever seen a number on how many tons of "stuff" are on US or NA rails on a typical day? Not counting the tare weights of the cars and loco's. Good thing we havw skilled MOW forces to keep the whole thing from sinking into the ground. Bruce

This seems to be a common issue now little do they know they are on camera.-
Well .. they have now walked out of the camera view
