If I had to guess, he is saying the matter of a regular members' photo contest is now moot....decided...over....period.

I think you've got it, although I disagree with the OP - I don't think the idea is dead.  Rather, the logistics of doing so are the stopper.  I'd like to believe that the editorial staff is in amenable to the idea, but actually pulling it off is just to much for them to handle and still publish a magazine, as noted by several posters.

This is my understanding as well, Larry.  I am sure the leadership would like to do other things, but they would have to be resourced at a time when resources are....umm....tight.  I would think that the staff are multi-hatted enough as it is without asking one lucky person to add a photo contest on the forum and to look after it.  Like you, though, I felt that it was entertained properly as an option, so the folks at Kalmbach were indeed amenable.
