Heading home after Mass on Sunday moring, I saw BNSF #6163 leading a northbound unit coal train on the Hinckley Sub about 10:45 AM. I'm pretty sure that was the unit number.

On the conductor's side of the locomotive, there was obvious fire damage amidship. They'd replaced two side doors, and the doors looked to have only been primed in light grey. There was still some substantial smoke-staining on the adjacent surfaces, near the top-side. The fire must've been fairly intense.

I'm surprised BNSF seemed to feel the need to get the locomotive back out into service so quickly. Does anyone know what may have happened with this unit?
