I am hoping someone will be able to point me in the direction of a book or other information reguarding the line charted as the Atlanta and Hawkinsville Railroad, then later named the Atlanta and Florida Railroad, and was later added to the new Southern system (per railga.com). I believe the line was pulled-up sometime before WWII.
I am looking for information on any other surviving structures, roadbeds, etc located along the northern portion (Fulton, Clayton, Fayette, Spalding, and Pike counties) of the line. I actually rode by the Depot in the community of Kenwood, GA in north Fayette county several weeks ago but it has been neglected and unmantained for who knows how long. I know depots exist in Fayetteville and Inman and are used for civic purposes. I first became interested in this line when I noticed the Inman depot seemingly in the middle of nowhere as a teenager going to a tractor and farm days show. I've been researching it off and on as much as my time permits, but I thought I'd ask some folks much more knowledgible about railroad history than myself. Any information would be appreciated.
