In September there was an open house at the VIA Rail Montreal Maitnance Facility.

In June there was one here in Ottawa with the Ottawa Central Railway at Walkley yard at which VIA and the O-Train were also present.

But I found out about these things months too late! I stumbled upon them by chance in search engines.

My question is, how do you find out about these things? They don't advertise, and I can't search Google every day for them. Is there like a bulletin board or news letter?

My suggestion would be to check your favorite railroads website and look for an item such as upcoming events.our local paper keeps up somewhat on things like Deshler Days.but mark your calendar or put in your cmputer calandar to pop up and remind you of these events posssibly for next year at this time.
stay safe

You can also keep an eye on the Trains.com Schedule of events section (found in the left column on Trains.com under the Resources heading). If you go to the section http://www.trains.com/community/events/ and click on "All Upcoming" under the Quick Links in the center column, the subsequent page will show you all the events that have been submitted. You can then click on the type of event (Excursions, Tours, Swap Meets, etc.) in the left hand column to narrow your search.

That's the way to search for all the events submitted. You can also narrow your search by a zip code search or by date.

Now remember, we only list those events that are submitted to us. If you know anyone putting on an event, you should tell them to submit their information to us via that page.

Take care,
Erik
