If you are interested in exploring abandoned railroads, I know there was a C&O line that once came through Peru. The last time I was up there (about three years ago), there were quite a few old railroad buildings, abandoned yards, and the roadbed could be traced all the way northeast, up to North Judson and towns like that. Also at one time an electric interurban ran through Peru--although I think it was torn up in the 40's.
