Who's Who in railroading history
Posted by Murphy Siding on Wednesday, September 27, 2006 10:43 PM
Has there ever been a book written along the lines of "Who's Who in railroading history"?  A lot of books I read have a many colorful characters in them.  A bokk devoted to them would be a good read.  I have several similar books about Who's who, in"  WWI, WWII, The Civil War, The Bible, American History, and even is one about the Royal Family of Britain!  I'm 3/4 through The Men Who Loved Trains, and you almost need a score sheet to remember who all the players are.

Thanks to Chris / CopCarSS for my avatar.

Well,

Why not start our own list of those "Who's Who" figures if there's no book on the subject?

I read of Lou Menk.  Former head of Burlington Northern and CB&Q.   Hard charging decision maker.  Of course he also deliberately downgraded CB&Q's once very fine passenger service.

Prime Osborne (Seaboard System) & Hays Watkins (Chessie System):  At the helm of those railroads when CSX was formed in 1986.

"I like my Pullman Standards & Budds in Stainless Steel flavors, thank you!"
