Does anyone here use MS Train Simulator? How good do you think you are?

I do, and I used to drive the real thing... I enjoy it, but I find it more difficult than the full size! I'd say I was no better than fair...

I have Train Simluator. I enjoy using it and think I am pretty good at it. However there appears to be some kind of challenge in the statement "How good do you think you are ?" Just wondering

There is no challenge. I'm not an expert in this game either. But i did make some changes to my game.

I don't have MSTS, as I can't see spending the money on software. Free is a good thing. I have BVE, and it's pretty cool when you actually figure out how to run it.

I'm just getting started and know I have a lot to learn. I plan on picking up the console that's out now, which will help alleviate memorizing keys (a problem with Flight Simulator, too) and may help my train handling.

I found and installed a "TimeSaver" for MSTS which I love, especially after installing the patch for the front coupler. I have yet to complete either of the supplied scenarios...

For what it's worth, I used to work for the company (Link Simulation Systems Division of Singer Co.) that made the very first simulator used for training engineers. We put together an SD45 simulator for training that was an exact duplicate of the Sd45 cab and we had a camera mounted on the nose of a real unit and took video (actually 16 mm film at that time) of all the divisions of SP (the buyers of this machine) so they could use it to train engineers of all divisions. This was the one and only loco simulator we ever built, but I tried to sell EMD these things as an "add on" to their loco sales and even traveled to LaGrange but found them uninterested at the time (don't think they ever did it with anybody else either)..perhaps if they had taken me up on the idea they would have had an edge of sorts over GE.
