Hi guys Im back.
The hiring session was INTERESTING.
I got 100% on the reading test and was the 3rd best out of my hiring grp in the physical test.
I did better than guys have my age, only 2 ex. college football players did better than me.
Nope, I didnt get an offer....in fact out of 4 days of participants (80 people?), they were only going to make 8 offers.
I saw 6 of the 8 this morning that were given offers, the only one from my session was an existing UP employee who had a labor type job.
I am sure the other 7 were existing UP employees as well.
Seems a whole bunch of machinist's and other mechanical type workers are all trying to transfer into train service.
I am not sure who the other 2 guys were as one was in the room and the ohter around a corner on a cell phone.
I dont feel bad that I didnt get an offer though...I am glad the existing UP employees got the offers....which makes a good impression on me as a prospective employee knowing they will give existing employees first shot.
Oh well...also I cannot apply for this same job at other locations now for 6 months, even if I had applications already "under review", which I do.
At least my "Shop Laborer" jobs are still valid.....
I wi***he other railroads would at least respond!
I thought I did good in the interview...the questions were breif and quick and they wanted brief and quick answers.
Like I said INTERESTING...I am glad I went though...they said they will make offeres up to six months on other jobs and we dont have to reattend.
