And if you are 99 feet within track nobody is going to care. People are going to tresspass again and again, like red-light runners and people going over the speed limit. [:(!][:(!]
[/quote]

Hi A , [:)] Sorry that the dog got hurt. [:(] I have a Doberman and would be unhappy if something happened to her. But I wouldn't have her out there in the first place. Here, as many have pointed out, the right of way is not 100 feet. It may be around 30 feet counting tracks and all. (That is just a guess) The point is, if 30 or if 100 feet, that the tracks and the right of way are private property. When you run a red or yellow light you do so most of the time without much thought. You just do it on the spur of the second. Speeding can be done without realizing it, when you are not thinking about the speed limit but thinking about other things. But when one walks on the tracks or right of way can they say, "I didn't know what I was doing?" I think not.

What it comes down to, for adults, is strictly prinicples. You either have them or you don't. Let me give you a short story. One year my brother was in the service stationed at K. I. Sawyer AFB in the UP of Michigan. He had left a car at our farm in Missouri and wanted me to drive it up to him. So I did. I started out on the trip. Somewhere in Illinois late at night/early morning, I came upon a stop light out in the middle of nowhere. There wasn't a crossroad, but there was a red light. I stopped there and waited. There wasn't anything coming. I thought to myself how stupid it was to put a stoplight out here in the middle of nowhere and nothing was coming. This stoplight wasn't 20 seconds it litterally was minutes. After several minutes of waiting and waiting for nothing I was getting a little p o ed. After another couple of minutes (I am not kidding it was minutes) I saw in the distance a set of headlights. They came closer and closer and finally a few cars past me going the other direction. After they passed the stoplight turned green. I went. Down the road about 1/2 mile the road narrowed. Then it narrowed even more. Then there was a sign that said "Narrow Bridge". The bridge wasn't wide enough for 2 cars only one. I slowly crossed the bridge, regained speed and continued on my way. The road was still narrow. Then it widdened a bit, and after a short while of driving became two lanes again. After a couple of minutes of driving I came upon another stoplight that had the opposite lane stopped. Then it was all clear and made complete sense. But what would have happened had I not stayed stopped at my stoplight.
I think everyone reading this thread can figure that one out, well maybe not.
Like I said before, it all comes down to principles--you either have them or you don't.
Anyone willing to break one law on purpose is willing to break others. These laws are for our protection. But some people just can't seem to figure that out.
