Does anyone know when the UP6936 will ever come back to Council Bluffs? It has been California since June. Allan.

Ummm...no. The only thing I can think of that you would be talking about is the Centennial in Omaha. That's 6900, not 6936.

The 6936 went to Portola to join the WPRMs (Western Pacific Rail Museum formerly the Feather River Rail Society) train to railroad days in Dunsmir. The trip went without a hitch. But, upon return to the WPRM some of the museum gang decided that the 6936 would be a good parts source for there own DDA40X. The 6936 was then moved to a remote track at the museum where it will be striped of several key internal components. After they are done the 6936 will have several crushed VW bugs placed inside the carbody to make up for the lost weight. Then the WPRMs own DDA40X will be unveiled in a new coat of WP silver and orange paint Then after the SP heritage unit is unveiled in Sacramento the two units will will tow the UP unit out of the state as a symbolic gesture. The SP and WP will rise again, the UP will be banished !!!! And once again all will be right in the universe.

No apologies nessasary Jim, Just haveing some fun on a boreing tuesday morning.

Allan, Seriously the 6936 is in Portola and will be there for Portola's railroad days (aug 24-27). It has been there sience the WPRM's train to Dunsmuir returned. Rumor has it that there will also be a rotary snowplow and a couple heritage units too (my guess would be the SP and WP ones).

No MSTS.  On my HO set!  In my sick, little world UP got snatched up by other roads!  One of which was the CNW.  Complete with patches on the UP units!  You should hear the foamers foam...
