Can anybody point me to some good railroad spots to watch trains in the Dallas/Fort Worth area? Thanks in advance for any replies.

Greg,
On Sundays, go to Tower 55 in Ft Worth; it is under the new I30 overpasses just south of the Amtrak station. Also Alliance yard in Haslett,
UP yard along Vickery.

Greg -
I know that it is a long ways from arlington, but worth it! there is a new KCS R.R. yard in Wile, and I have seen several BNSF intermodels running through there as well. this is apperently going to become a fair sized interchange between DGNO, KCS, BNSF, and UP. part of it is still under construction. I have also seen triple header BNSF with a BNSF in the lead and two SF's , one blue and yellow, and one silver and red - the switchmen often leave the most commonly used switches unlocked, and kids go and switch them, so if you do your part for the railroad, by keeping the kids, away, it makes their job easier, the railroad run smother, and as a result, they are glad to have you around - as "payment" I have even gotten them to pose for some good "action" photos. have fun,
chris

Greg,
Ron summed it up pretty well in a nutshell. Here's a couple more quick tips... On your way to Haslet, swing through Saginaw and check out the scene there. Several yards and large grain elevators and all very accessible. Alternatively, you could take 360 North out of Arlington till you get to Trinity Blvd. then follow the signs to the Trinity Railways Express station and hop on for a trip to downtown Dallas via UP's DFW Subdivision. Potential for UP trains and BNSF also has trackage rights. Downtown Dallas boasts Union Station (Amtrak, DART, TRE plus BNSF and UP)and also Reunion Tower which gives you a wonderful birds-eye view of the downtown rail scene. Also keep checking my website at www.tower55.com as I am trying to get info about railfanning in DFW out there very soon! Thanks and be safe,
Doug A.
