Good morning, <br />UP RR, and most of the others used to have a "public trace" on their website. You could enter a unit ID and get the last siting report. I used to use it to track the 3985, 844 and the Exec E's. Post 9-11, the RR's have gotten concerned about that being mis-used and have moved a lot of their tools to secured access. (i.e. need to have a password.) I have the good fortune (somedays more of a mis-fortune) of being a customer to many of the RR's and have trace access for most, so I can still look up stuff. The AAR or IANA have a website called SteelRoads.com which used to be known as NetRedi. It combines tracing data for most RR's to one site. I think it however requires that a RR "sponsor" you to get acccess.[8D]
