ACE Bombardier Cars for Metrolink?

While at Los Angeles Union Station on Monday, I was surprised to see a Metrolink commuter arrive with a complete trainset of Bombardiers in the ACE livery, but with the logos painted out and Metrolink ones painted on.
Has Altamont Commuter Express sold or leased these cars? Why? I thought they were trying to expand their own service.
I also saw what looked like a Sounder car in the Metrolink yard.

They could be borrowed till that service is expanded. Back after the Northridge quake Metrolink borrowed equiptment from GO transit and Caltrain for the shotgun startup of service to Palmdale.
