Wabash wooden caboose

G'day, Y'all,
Forty-two years ago, come January, Model Railroader published a feature on building wooden cabooses. A drawing was included of Wabash RR #456. I've wanted to make that caboose since 1964, but I still cannot tell how the platforms are attached to the body of the 28-foot long "box" because it appears that the platforms' tops are at the bottom of the end sills, giving nothing to attach to. It appears that a steel tongue is attached to the truck shaft and extends to include the coupler pocket. The platforms appear to rest on these, but surely that cannot be correct. Any old MRR whohave the Jan. '64 issue or know anything about this type Wabash caboose? Surely Harold Giesel didn't draw it wrong.
