Not exactly sure here what "unpatched" means to a railfan; is it a literal description of rolling stock from fallen flags that hasn't been messed with? Midafternoon of Thursday, June 9, spotted a fresh-looking Santa Fe loco -- classic silver & red with warbonnet -- heading up the BN scheduled intermodal run passing thru Rochelle, Illinois. [8D] Got a bad picture of it, my hands were shaking so![8)]

Also if nobody has mentioned it Rochelle has something close to "shop queens," former BN and Santa Fe helpers, both looking quite clean. The Santa Fe is done in the blue-and-yellow with the "Romany" looking lettering for Sana Fe.

There appear to be pockets of BN and ATSF'dom out there--and sometimes they're badly needed, it seems.
