Proud to Be a Railfan.
Posted by Anonymous on Sunday, March 23, 2003 1:42 PM

Hi There, March 23rd, 03.
Sunday 12:30 Hrs. M.S.T.

I read the Article in Trains Magazine in
Regards to Being Harassed for Taking Pictures
etc at Track Side.
My Views, If the F.B.I., Police etc or
Anyone Else for that Matter, were not so
"Paranoid" then had "The Smarts" If They indeed
Have It, They could have Come to the "RailFan
Community or Railfan Groups etc and said "Look
we Need some "Extra Eyes & Ears", "We Would Be
Greatfull if You would let Us Know of Anything
say Supicious or Questionable comes Up." Is
This Asking to Much? I don't Think So.
Did the F.B.I. Blow It. Sure Did as
I See It. My View, I live Up in Canada, and I'll
Still "Go Railfanning" any time I Please and If
I see Questionable Practices etc, Sure I'll Call
the Local Cops or Railway Cops if its Necessary
but I won't Be Intimidated By so called "War or
Security Paranoia" etc from Enjoying My Hobbies
or Railfanning or Model Railroading etc, or any
Hobby I may have for that Matter.
In My View, American Railfans can Come Up
to Canada Any Time. We Have some Great Railfan
Locations - Pick Any Place You Want, Grab that
Camera, Video Cam Recorder, etc and Enjoy a
Great Day "Railfanning". Canada Isn't a Paranoid
Police State.
Railfanning - Model Railroading are
Great Hobbies. Be Proud of Our Hobbies and Don't
Let Others Spoil it For You.
Happy Railfanning - Canada and the States.

Andrew W. Matheson.
Calgary.

Andrew, thanks for your views. Question: Your views on the Canadians booing the American National Anthem at the game in Canada last week? Thanks

Isn't it GOOD to live in a country where you can actually BOO the playing of National Anthem.
In MANY other places that would have been the LAST thing you did.
And I'm with you Andrew. ANYTIME I want to watch the RR I will. After all, no one is questioned while they are sitting at a crossing in their cars waiting for that train to pass. Come to think about it, there are a lot of crossings that are totally unguarded where you can actually get your car so close to the tracks that the paint on your bumper will get scraped off and the leaves in your vents will get blown out. HEHAW!!
Some of those crossings are TOTALY blind too!!!
Double HEHAW!!!!
