This one should be a little harder.

Now that you mention it, I think it was McKinley.

Was he really assassinated? I thought he caught the flu--oh, wait a minute, that was Ben. Harrison??
Assuming this is not a trick question, I'll cap-g Guess New York City.

I want you gentlemen to know I have my World Almanac handy and was SO tempted to cheat!!

Or maybe it's Philadelphia? 'Cuz I think even then NYC had Penna. and Grand Central stations, so altho' the latter is a terminus and the former handled more than one rail line, neither one is styled "Union Station." Seems to me I'd know if he was assassinated here in Chicago, tho' I think our Union Station wasn't there until the early 20th Century (in present Beaux Arts form, at least).

You know what? I withdraw my vote. Live and learn. NOW I'm going to look up the answer. [banghead] [banghead] [banghead]

The assassination of James Garfield took place in Washington, D.C. He was moved to a seaside location in New Jersey in hopes that it would improve his recovery. He died on September 19th, 1881.
There is a monument that the D&RGW errected on the west end of Toltec Tunnel in his memory. Everyone who rides the Cumbres & Toltec Scenic Railroad would see it, as I did in 1989.

The "flu" (actually it was pneumonia) prez was Benjamin's grandpa, William Henry Harrison. Oddly enough, Benjamin disliked referencing his presidential roots, and did not ride his grandfather's coattails in his campaign (though his supporters did reference him quite a bit).

Washington Union Station. The spot was marked with a gold star, but this caused so many crowds in the station that it was later removed.
