Has anybody seen Fred lately? The last I heard he had fallen down on the job. [;)]

See? I told you this would happen when they took off the cabooses.

I've fallen and I can't get up!! [swg]

Maybe they'll pick it up at the next dragging equipment detector.

Doh! There goes about 5,000 bucks. It looked like one of the new air powered ones too. Too bad so sad. I bet that conductor or carman will be briefed about how to put on an EOT and make sure it's on. I used to give them a good shake once I had it on there to make sure it wasn't going anwhere, but you never know; it could have been a failure of the clasp too.

Actually it had already gone through 2 dragging equipment detectors and they both missed it. It was an engineer on a parked train that caught it and radioed ahead.

I think they told FRED to take 2 Advil and call them in the morning. [:D] [:D]

They must be built pretty tough to take a dragging like that? Suprised it didn't catch on something and get ripped free.

Actually, it's something new they're trying . . .

FRED now stands for "Friction Rub's Extremely Durable".

LOL if you must.[;)]

You would think there would be built-in features in the technology for situations just like this. " FRED to head end: oooh......ouh.......oooh......ouh....ooh....ouh...."

It usually plugs th' train. Alot of the time the battery will fall out, or it'll be loose,or something.

I have one with a 9-volt and one with AA... oh wait, wrong forum... [}:)]

I was surprised to see a FRED lying on the ground in the middle of some weeds along CP's yard in Milwaukee. I got a picture of it... somewhere... Although I was even more surprised to see it again a few days later!
