I like beer but not enough to get into a riot for "free" beer. Very pathetic and now it has resulted in a death of a woman. I hope the looters feel guilty about that-they should be ashamed of themselves.

There was a crossing incident about a month ago down in Colorado Springs that involved a BNSF coal train and a high-sided beer truck full of Blue Moon. I have a newspaper clipping with a picture of the wreck somewhere at home, anyone interested can e-mail me, I will get it scanned and send it along.

If I remember correctly, the only injuries were to the bottles of beer [:(]. And I don't seem to remember any riot problems either, which is surprising because Blue Moon isn't that bad!

This is right up there with the 5,000 people fighting over a few hundred used computers put up for sale by a school. [V]

There's a great old Ealing Studios Comedy (U.K.) about a little island off of Scotland that ran out of whiskey -- and after an unpleasant dry spell a shipload of whiskey ran aground on the island. It's called "Whiskey Galore." Nobody got killed.

I am a casual lurker around these boards but I had 2 add my 2cents about this article.

If anyone takes the Miller Brewery tour in Milwaukee, WIS they give you the breakdown if one of these cars wrecks. If a 50foot box car were to derail in your backyard and that every bottle was intact, it would take you a little over 45 YEARS to consume all the beer in that car. That is a 6 pack a day!

SOUNDS LIKE A WAGER!

Thought Id provide a little humor

I think between me and a couple of my serious beer drinking friends could wipe out that boxcar load in two years, mabee one if we really applied ourselves.[8D]

In the late 50's or early 60's, there was a derailment
on the CP near Banff, Alta. A car carrying liquor spilled its load.
Soon as the MOW got to the scene, they comandeered a farmer's
tracter in a nearby field, hot-wired it & ran over all the bottles
and plowed them into the ground. Anybody recall this incident?

(1) support your local brewer CoRailFan!
(2) 1983 at Roswell (just below Fillmore Ave./ CRIP/DRGW wye interchange with a derailed ATSF train) in Colorado Springs, we had a derailment that involved a car full of Killian's Red in Kegs and another with Miller in cases of cans. The Killians car was crushed to the point that the kegs ruptured. We worked all night cleaning up the mess and opening the main track on the Joint Line. THe air was thick that night with beer fumes,we were feeling no pain at 6am and a slight buzz. The locals were in tears that morning when the Miller beer was dumped in a trench and run over with a bulldozer - people were trying to sneak in with sponges![:D]
Mudchicken Nothing is worth taking the risk of losing a life over. Come home tonight in the same condition that you left home this morning in. Safety begins with ME.... cinscocom-west
