I was just wondering if anyone knows of any good places to watch the Selkirk Yard and take pictures from. Also directions will be nice since I'm new to the area. Since everyone looks at me when I ask for directions like I'm a terrorist nut I could use some help from railroad enthuisits out there in the Albany area.

If mergers keep going won't there be only 2 railroads? The end of an era will be lots of boring paint jobs.

...there's an overpass near the east end of the yard, which seems to be where most railfans gather. You can park easily near the overpass and there's plenty of room near the span itself to take pix. It's somewhat convoluted to get to Selkirk from Albany - depands on where you're coming from, but you can't go wrong is you follow Rt 9W South from Albany, and follow signs (and your nose) and you'll get there. You can if course access the overpass from either side of the yard,,,,good luck!
