Today the newly repainted Soo Line GP30 #700 has started pulling passenger trains for the North Shore Scenic Railroad!

It will run for about the month of July to give the DMIR SD18 #193 a breather.

I dont know if that was sarcasm or what, but im glad they got that unit over there. It went from SOO 700, WC 700[8D] and now SOO 700!

Yes, a little sarcasm. Not alot of people know that the #700 runs on traded in ALCO trucks.

Chesapeake & Ohio's SD-18s ran on ALCO trucks from trade in RSDs.
It's not an uncommon practice for new locos to run on rebuilt/trade-in
trucks from other manufacturers.

I remember seeing 700 several years ago on a train leaving leaving Manitowoc, WI when WC owned it with thick white smoke pouring from the stack. Apparently something was wrong with the diesel engine and the next day the newspaper reported the locomotive had started several grass fires along the tracks near Valders. I don't think WC ever painted it, just stenciled WC on the cab.
