CSX Transportation
Posted by Ka964 on Saturday, July 2, 2005 4:27 AM
Recently I came across a website called "CSX Sucks" and I could not believe some of the contents posted on this site by CSX employees. Surely, if they hate their job that much, why dont they go and work for another rail company. I know we all have bad days (I am a loco driver myself just having moved from New Zealand to Australia) but this is ridiculous. Any feedback would be appreciated.

Question for Ka964....Does New Zealand have regular scheduled passenger trains...? And in general terms, how large a state {New Zealand}, is it say...from top to bottom...In miles or Km...?

The Country of New Zealand has about 104,000 square miles. North Island is about the size of Indiana and South Island is about the size of Illinois and they have about 4,000,000 people.
I find it interesting that CSX is a lot bigger than CN but is only worth half as much.

....Thanks for the comments, nanaimo73....Guess I thought the area was larger in land mass.

I've seen that site. I think it's funny. As the matter of fact I have a picture on the wall in my office that makes me laugh every time I look at it.

One of the reasons I think it's so funny is because it so reminds me of a D***head boss I had a while back.

Maybe they don't hate their job, they're just unhappy with the company. Most who post on that site seem to be people who were either wronged by the company or at least thought they were wronged, there's always that other side of the story that none of us get to see. You don't just walk away from the railroad if you've got some seniority and vacation accumulated and all that goes with it and reasonably like their job. And, on that site, you can post anonymously, exagerate, expound, say what you really think or dress it up. I don't think it's a true picture, it's more like a carticature.

is a place for us to vent out our frustations for those of us that wi***o use it for venting.... its not as easy as you say to just give up and quit a job that pays well..with benifits... and go work for another railroad... especialy in areas of the country where thier is little of no other jobs that pay what csx pays... and give up how ever many years in senority to start out as the baby on the rosters agin....someone just starting out with only a few months or a year or 2 of service could find it easier to leave then someone that has no other choices but to keep working....

I've talked to many BNSF engineers and they seemed freindly and liked their jobs.

Why don't they go to BNSF?!?!?!

Check out the map, Joe. Unless you want to uproot, there's not a lot of overlap between CSX and BNSF.

Maybe instead of the site being called CSX Sucks, maybe it should say Michael Ward Sucks.

lol yes I liked Snow much better.

Ka964 welcome to the forums you should stop in the Diner somtime [#welcome]

I've been to the website CSX-sucks.com and I have to say though, I like CSX some of the stuff that goes on at CSX isn't uncommon of most railroads. I just think you don't hear too much about it. One thing that doesn't surprise me about CSX is it's repuatation for bad trackage, which is noted time and again on that site.

Ok people, thanks for the comments on my query about CSX. I know its not easy to pull the pin on a job that you like especially if you have got service(seniority and Benifets etc).
But if any of you Loco Engineers out there are looking for jobs, their are literally hundreds in Australia and New Zealand. Aust need around 1500 and NZ around70.

It's sort of interesting trivia to note that Mel Gibson's father was a New York Central railroader who packed up the family and moved to Australia and railroaded there.

That's a lot of jobs, Ka, but there's even less map overlap between there and where I'm at.
