BNSF in Emeryville
Posted by BNSF4ever on Friday, July 1, 2005 8:12 PM
Okay I know that for the Bay Area railfan contingent this is going to be a no-brainer but I'll ask it anyway (sometimes a forum needs that 80+ mph pitch out over the plate):

I've seen BNSF locomotives run through Emeryville--together, not pool power. Are these run-throughs or does BNSF have trackage rights in from Richmond? If so, to where?

I think they have trackage rights to the Port of Oakland.

Bay Crossings had a great article on how the Western Pacific had to battle Southern Pacific in court, in the street, and on the Bay to reach the Port of Oakland. Santa Fe didn't want to fight so hard and settled for Richmond.
