Just wondering if anyone out there is from the prime New York Central Railroad territory around Elyria, Ohio or are from Ohio period.

Like I said I'm just curious who from Ohio might be online. More specifically do you know any good railfan spots in the rest of the state besides Bellevue, Greenwich, Berea, Sandusky, and Willard. Obviously farther out there is Fostoria and Marion but for all my travels riding speeder cars(those little inspection cars railroads used to use) across the state I have not paid much attention to the other railroads nearby.

Fairmount: I work in Avon lake, near both the old Nickel Plate and NYC. Elyria is nearby, but not particularly interesting from train watching perspective - no highly photogenic spots.

I belong to Cuyahoaga Valley & West Shore RR Club, located near Berea in 1876 Lake Shore & Michigan Southern (later NYC) Depot on the NS mainline. It is not a bad spot, and augmented by the existence of our station and our PRR N5 caboose. We have operating HO, O-Gauge, and G gauge layouts. You are welcome to visit on Thursday or Saturday evenings, but summer is best with long evening daylight train watching. It is the same main as Berea, but west of the CSX split so you don't see those trains from our place. Toledo is not bad; with the active area around the depot which is still an AMTRAK stop, a freight main, and an AMTRAK Express freight depot. Toledo also usually has 3-4 private cars stored there. You already mentioned the best places, such as Fostoria or Bellvue. Cleveland has some good areas near the lake front. one can drink a beer at riverfront cafes while watching dozens of trains go over the river lift bridge with its manned tower.

The places you mention is the busiest. Of course you have Winton Place In Cincinnati,Toledo is ok.Fostoria is great as well as Deshler.Lima is busy at times-CSX,RJCorman and I&O.

Marion of late can be hit and miss depending on days of the week.Usually after 3:00pm week days,All day Saturday & Sunday. Crestline is very slow more often then not.

Worth looking into is the Ohio Cental and Columbus.
