I went to the interview session for the AMDG conductor course back on Wednesday, June 8th. I'm trying to get into this program and hopefully get hired on by CSX to work out of Buffalo, NY. I would say that the session went well. I passed the colorblindness test, and the industrial reading test, but I just dont know about that $@&*! "Hogan Personality Test." What's worse, I have to wait until this thursday to find out how I did (and weather or not I'm still qualified). Has anyone else here been through this same program? Any input would be appreciated.

As long as you said you didn't like skydiving and answered the questions like your mother would want you to you will be fine. Once you get into AMDG it's basically a sure thing a long as you are in good physical shape. Just study before each daily quiz and weekly test and you'll ACE the whole program, it's really EASY! I believe Buffalo has a need for people, so they shouldn't end up shipping you somewhere else, which can happen during the middle of school. Just listen in class and be repsectful to your instructors, if you are a hobbyist, don't lead on that you know a bunch of stuff about railroading because it's a BIG TURNOFF!!! Acting like you know a lot already will get you blackballed by everyone, so just watch, listen, and learn. Oh, by the way... GOOD LUCK!!!

First, thanks for your response to my post [:)] . Second, my concern is a couple of questions that I answerd on the hogan. They had to do with doing things on the spur of the moment. I answered that I did not like to do things on the spur of the moment because I figured that would signify the attributes of a risk taker and that I did not like to properly plan and think things through (by the way, I said that I did not want to go skydiving!). However, now in hindsight, I'm worried that answer would work against me considering how I'd have to go into work on the spur of the moment as a conductor (smaks self on head). Well, I'll just have to wait until thursday to find out how I did. Thanks again!

When they're talking "spur of the moment," it's more to do with daily life. Do you just do things without planning them out beforehand??? Obviously with railroading, especially when you are new, you always want to plan out all your moves and talk to your engineer before you do them. I have only been railroading for a year and four months now, and I always consult my engineer about what we are going to do before we do it. You answered that question the way it should have been answered. You're perception of spur of the moment for getting a call to work would not qualify as spur of the moment because you will work on an extraboard where you must expect to get called at any time and day, even on your off days sometime! Of course you don't have to answer the phone on your off day, but that's a whole nother quandry.

I MADE IT!!!!!!!!!! [:D] I just got the phone call today from AMDG that I've been accepted into the class and my class start date is July 18th in Cincinati! Thanks to all of you who have offered encouragement and/or prayers. I'll keep you all posted!
