Hul ? or Hull ? There is a town of Hull, Iowa which I think is on the U.P.

Thanks to Chris / CopCarSS for my avatar.

Looking at a State Map of Iowa, the town of Hull is in the NW cornoner of the State on Hwy 18 , a mile east of Hwy 75. The BNSF runs North and South along Hwy 75 . Possible this yard you are looking for is close by. I hope this helps some.

The only line going through Hull was the CMSP&P line that DAIR stopped using in 1982.Your "HUL" looks like a short version of something to me. There is a Hull Ave. in the NE corner of Des Moines.

Yes, it's Hull Avenue Yard in Des Moines; I'm pretty sure that's UP's major facility there.

Hull Avenue yard is the former CNW yard, plus 3 former Ft.Dodge, Des Moines & Southern interurban tracks. It sits along the ex-RI Spine line.
The major UP yard in Des Moines now is the ex-RI Short Line yard.
There used to be another yard at Bell Avenue that was ex-CGW. It was the CNW's major facility after they got the CGW and before they got the RI yard.
