BNSF name and logo change

Does anyone else here think that BNSF should have stuck with their old logo? Their new logo is way to stylized and BNSF is a freight railroad and the new logo looks like a passenger line logo. Also why in the world did they change their name to BNSF Railway. It just does not roll off your tongue like a railroad name should.[v]

It's all about corporate image. Now to me, the new logo just screams that it was designed by some skate punk wannabe, and doesn't belong within 250 miles of a professional railroad, but there are others out there that like it.

Personally, I liked the Heritage 1 scheme best of all, tolerated the H2's, and despise the H3's. Of course, I'm one of about 3 people in this world that thought the Grinsteins were good looking locos, too. To me, they were the epitome of professionalism. Not an over the top scheme, but a little more intricate than cascade green.

Of course, cascade green with tiger stripes looked pretty coo, too!

I liked the tiger striped GP50s too. I picked up a back issue of CTC Board the other day that had a story in it on the entire paint scheme history of the BN. It was an interesting read. I never realized how many variations they had.

I think the new image will improve the business for BNSF. The old image did was OK but didn't really catch your attention. I think that the new logo will do this.

Yes. the BN & SF should have stuck with thier old logos ( The "s" is intentional).

What are all you complaining about? It's no DUMBER than UP's WE WILL DELIVER....
Logo. UP & BNSF are the only two Railroads that are aplying these new logo's while CSXT & NS are not. Now what's wrong with this picture?

I have to disagree. I don't think that the new logo is going to improve business for BNSF. The logo just does not fit with BNSF's image. That and I don't think it looks very good on the side of a locomotive.

There is nothing wrong with this picture because BNSF & UP are bigger and better railroads than CSX & NS.

I still think "Everywhere West" would be a great name for BNSF, and the logo should be a map of the USA with only the states served shown, and the principle lines shown also.

At the end of the day, growth in business for a railroad/railway is secured by giving freight customes superior service levels at a very competitive price compared with other railroads and truck lines...PERIOD...not by adopting flashy new paint shcemes. Those paint schemes and logos and catchy slogans are adopted for the benefit of the general public, some of who may be investors looking to put their money into stocks they seem to like, and an IMAGE helps there, but NOT with moving freight cars to an ultimate destination faster and safely for less cost to the shipper.

Hey, at least they are painting their locomotives in a scheme. They could be painting them in the paint color that's the cheapest and applying vinyl lettering just big enough to be legal under the cab window:

I can just imagine the logos and paint schemes they could come up with for that combination.

Perhaps, just perhaps, the long term stability of a company is reflected in the long term stability of it’s corporate logo. With only minor changes UP’s shield has held the position of corporate logo for over a century. What dose changing a logo every few years or so say to “you”, the public about a company?

That said, I have always favored the War Bonnet. Ten years ago I imagined a green and silver War Bonnet. Now that would have been cool. Love that Cascade Green.
