QUOTE: Originally posted by spbed Do you know where that park in Omaha is located[?] I will be in Omaha 2nd week May & would really want to see it & the Big Boy? Thanks for any help you give me. Just south of the Lauritzen Gardens overlooking I-80, the Missouri River valley, and BNSF's Gibson Yard. But the engines and tender might yet have to be placed at the permanent display location. In fact, the last time I say the Big Boy #4023 about three days ago it was still on the trailer that moved it. To get to Lauritzen Gardens, take I-80 to the 13th Street exit, then north about 1/4 mile to Bancroft Street, turn right and go about 1/2 mile to enter the parking lot. The crew and equipment will be to the right. Reply Edit spbed Member sinceDecember 2001 From: Austin TX 4,941 posts Posted by spbed on Thursday, March 31, 2005 8:30 AM Thank U for the prompt reply. It will be disruptive and expensive to re-move it from this resting place. Besides, the reason it was paired up with the 6936 is that the 6900 no longer runs. Also, the trailers still seemed to be under the 4023 and its tender, so maybe there are some problems placing the locomotive. They said if you want to contact them call (402) 444-1000. Maybe somebody who is Omaha can contact them & develop some more info. Omaha has barricaded the center of Pacific Street just at the east crosswalk, right where the Big Boy would have been turning a few weeks ago. Also, the trailers still seemed to be under the 4023 and its tender, so maybe there are some problems placing the locomotive. We'll just have to watch and wait for a trailer and the underlying trucks to be moved from Lauritzen Gardens to the Schneider staging yard. No matter when the 6900 will be moved, it will have to be on the weekend. (Pretty strange sight...the 6900 up on "blocks" with its trucks underneath.)
