The service update page on METRA's website says that there will be delays of 15 minutes to every train on the UP Northwest line for the next two or three weeks. The update is at this place http://www.metrarail.com/Service_Updates/ Glad I don't have to head into town every day. Didn't seem to be much of a delay there, but we got stuck by a slow order and "broken down" freight train south of the tower. People missed connections to a local from River Grove, so we made "flag stops" between RG and Western Avenue - which added in to the 20 minutes. Gave me more time to: 1) Read a good book about the Vietnam War. (I hate Lyndon Johnson. I think Nixon saved my life.) 2) Sleep 3) Have fantisies about a woman passenger that I'd like to meet "By many measures, the U.S. freight rail system is the safest, most efficient and cost effective in the world." - Federal Railroad Administration, October, 2009. I'm just your average, everyday, uncivilized howling "anti-government" critic of mass government expenditures for "High Speed Rail" in the US. And I'm gosh darn proud of that.
