Asplundh weed spraying car

I came across this interesting car the other day on a SB CSX train. I'd love to see this car in action! Does anyone know how many of these they have? This is the first one I've ever seen.

Wow....that's an unusual one. Asplundh is an old company. I personally can remember seeing their trucks in action back at least into the 50's....The surprise to me is if that really is an Asplundh car why isn't it orange and black....

"BLACKTHUMB" rides again! (If it grows, it must DIE!!!.....railroaders don't want to see it within 50 feet of the tracks or under their bridges)

Asplundh has 2 trainsets. DeAngelo Bros. has a couple more. Somebody (Merciers? RWC?) else has Santa Fe's two sets. All are supplemented by large High-Rail tank trucks.[xx(][xx(][xx(]

One in the same I think. I've seen one of their lineside brush cutters, but I never knew they had a weed spraying car like this.

Mudchicken,
Do you possibly remember the name of a 'weed spraying"
company located in Huntington,WVa.quite a few years ago ?
They used to keep one of their trains parked close to a main
road, and you could see the equipment.

Boy, they could use one set on the reviving Carrizo Gorge route of the old San Diego and Arizona Eastern up from Plaster City to at least Jacumba. With the winter rains, the plant growth on the desert is as lush as I can remember. Drove by the lower part of the route near Ocotillo CA last Saturday and saw two UP Geeps heading about a dozen or more beat-up ballast cars west of Ocotillo and another UP Geep and some green-painted Geep sitting at the Coyote Wells passing track. Before they do much ballasting, though, they are going to have to get rid of a ton of weeds between and to each side of the rails.

Coming back west later in the day, the Geeps with the string of cars were not to be seen, probably moving farther west.

On the good side, the desert flowers are awesome this year.

Thank You Sir,I lived in that area for several years and couldn't remember
the name either.

They better send it through the Philly sub - looks like pine trees growing on the stone bridge (MD755) west of W. Van Bibber.
