I have asked that question and the EMD guys duck the issue. All I know is that when BNSF first started to put units in their LUGO fleet the SD75's were some of the first. And it was stated that BNSF was less than thrilled with there performance. My guess, and it is just a guess, it was cooling problems. Why? The SD90Mac uses the same prime mover and it didn't give much problem. It has split cooling and much larger radiators. Also, you never read any complaints by the CN folks where the units operate in much cooler climates than the BNSF. Like I said, just a guess.
