Reminds me of the aftermath of the 1959 earthquake near Yellowstone. The quake triggered a landslide which then dammed up the Madison river, and a major effort was made to cut a channel in the slide to prevent a flash flood. Our family stopped by there in 1967 and the remnants of the landslide were impressive.

I'm guessing this could finish off ex-BC Rail as a thru route. I'm wishing I took the Rocky's rail tour train already.
The river broke through and is flowing. Some erosion along the Chilcotin downstream due to the surge. Lots of mud and trees in the Fraser, but it can handle the volume. I don't think there will be any affect on the railways although obviously they will keep an eye on the river along the main CN and CP lines for the next few days.
I found several opinions on it suggesting that the flow wasn't much over seasonal run-off.
Seeing the videos, I was surprised that the slide had been washed away as quickly as it was.
