Storm will have possible winds up to 100. Worse storm since 2011 with flooding and all problems of a hurricane landfall. Possible rating of CAT 3 or 4 hurricane. Hope they are wrong.

If you can view world wide radar and satellite the systems is rather large. Even looks like it will effect eastern Russia.
There's no doubt this is a powerful storm, and it makes good copy. "This storm is the biggest storm since our last big storm...etc.". Truth is, this will have very little effect on the Alaska Railroad. The high winds and heavy rains will be on the west coast, which is very sparsely populated. Alaska is very big. The railroad is 400-500 miles inland from the west coast. If this same storm hit San Diego, what woud the effects be on Las Vegas or Phoenix? The forecast of 2-3" of rain doesn't mean much to central Alaska. Most of the state is sort of an alpine rainforest. It rains all the days that it's not snowing.

Well the typhoon remanants went west of the main coast of Alaska. However now it threatens Canada and the US Pacific NW. Maybe will have effect on White Pass RR. After the bad forecast of Alaska the US NWS is being a little cagey. But Canadian forecasters very worried. CN & CP may have repeat problems of the flooding that occurred a while back?
