Good article in the July 31 Sunday Chicago Tribune, section 1, page 13: Great Railroad Strike, involving 400,000 shop workers primarily. It failed because the unions were divided.
And what was old is made new again, later this year.
I believe most of the unions will be together on this one if if proceeds to a strike...
