In the past I have received e-mails from the BNSF's 'Friends of the BNSF'

... This current communitcation is titled " Rail Talk"

The first item is referencing Improvements along Southern Transcon

Do you have questions about BNSF or rail in Kansas? Email Andy.Williams@BNSF.com

Not only did it mention improements in and around the  Amarillo(Tx) terminal, but also had film clips of other projects taking place in that area and in Oklahoma.  Also mentiuoned was the BNSF's sponsorship of the 'Concert in the Flint Hills' by the Kansas City Symphony on 06/11/2022.

Thanks for posting this. The BNSF continues to enhance the, already efficient, Southern Transcon.

Been a long time since I thought about the Flint Hills. I did my ROTC Advanced Camp at Fort Riley's Camp Funston and came back later in my career to do a three year tour as a staff officer in the 1st Infantry Division (Mechanized). To set the scene, the Flint Hills consists of rolling hills (my girlfriend, who worked at Kansas State in Manhattan, KS, had a T-shirt that read "Not Everything Is Flat In Kansas" and she had the body to prove it) in the prairie country in Northeast Kansas.

"The Flint Hills is one of the world’s largest areas of tallgrass prairie, spanning 4,000,000 acres. Conservation programmes mean that parts of the prairie remain completely wild, featuring untouched rolling landscapes, fields of wildflowers, and a rich habitat for bison, birds and other wild animals. The Flint Hills are often considered to be the beating heart of Kansas."

Yes, Bison - Fort Riley had its own Buffalo herd in their own corral and pasture when I was there - not sure about today. The Fort also has Consolidation #6072, generously donated by UP and well maintained, at least cosmetcally
