Yes, indeed, the IC is no more. It was bought up by CN shortly after <br />the Illinois Central Historical Society put this blurb on their "A BRIEF <br /> HISTORICAL SKETCH OF THE ILLINOIS CENTRAL RAILROAD" <br />page. ( http://icrrhistorical.org/icrr.history.html ) <br /> <br /> "The Illinois Central is the only major rail carrier in the United States still <br /> operating essentially under its own name without interruption after nearly <br /> a century-and -a-half since its founding." <br /> <br />It was operated as the CN-IC for awhile and then CN made the decision to <br />terminate the practice of differentiating between acquisitions and change <br />everything to just CN. <br /> <br /> <br />
