They also now have a flat car with MU and air connections, allowing any engine to couple and work remote. The flat has a high, narrow booth on one end with two headlight bulbs and the flashing yellow lights to indicate remote. These flats have a wide platform with engine-type steps and a railing on one end only, so a crewman can ride just as on an engine. The stupid thing is that the flat can be MUed from one end only. Also, the stuff isn't too sturdy, as the one in our yard is giving continuous problems. [a shop man told me they have to re-tighten pipe fittings every few weeks, because of the constant hammering by the rugrats. [ they don't have to be good...only cheap. HA!]
