QUOTE: Originally posted by TheAntiGates

Just curious, but does anybody know how much treasury stock UP might hold in NS or CSX (or vice versa)

Same for BNSF or vice versa
Please be more specific as to the term treasury stock, from my understanding of this type of stock is the kind that is held in a companies treasury from redemptions (buybacks) or for issuance and sale to investors later. Perhaps you mean Common Stock which is as you know the shares of ownership in a corporation or perhaps you mean prefered stock, that paper that gets first profits, though rarely an ownership interest (unless you are a FORD or perhaps a WANG), after the bills are paid. There also may be limits as to how much UP or any other company of a certian size may hold in another corporation without permission from certian regulators. But I do have to admit that in this day of hostile takeovers, mergers and aquisitions the question is imaginative, well founded and interesting in a Harriman sort of way. Does get one to thinking of the possibilities [tup]
