Does anyone know of any good locations near (within 20 miles) of Florence, KY?

Just go down the road to Covington.  There is a decent volume of trains coming off the old C&O bridge over the Ohio River.  I suspect that the volume on the NS bridge, a short dstance downstream, isn't quite as heavy, but might be significant.  It all depends on what you're used to.  Of course, you could cross the river into Cincinnati, but that really isn't necessary.

Thanks. We will be travelling through the area in May.  I'll try the Covington location.

Not familiar with what's currently operating there...your best bet would be to go to Zanesville, but that line sure ain't what it used to be.  CSX still goes there I think, but nearly everything has been shortlined or torn up (the latter includes an old B&O line through Philo).
