passenger trains-- why you'll never see it done..

However, people are riding the trains. Every time I ride Amtrak the coaches fill up along the routes, and the sleepers are nearly full at more than hotel prices. Amtrak desperately needs more sleepers, some of their trains running at night do not have any! <br /> <br />And that is exactly the problem. Amtrak nightly trains should all have sleepers and diners. Frankly, some of their shorter distance trains should have diners. But there is no cash in the budget to purchase any more. <br /> <br />And if there is no cash in the budget for more cars, there is no cash in the budget to improve slow tracks, much less build modern high speed tracks with new trainsets. <br /> <br />Everyone I know hates to fly! I have persuaded some to try the train. They all love the train, except for one reason. It is too slow..... <br /> <br />Well, it is time to change this situation. Fast trains and fast tracks are not pipe dreams, they exist in Europe and Asia. The cash is available in a $2.5 trillion dollar budget! We we had the gaul, we could fund a 20,000 mile network in one year, surely in ten if not twenty. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />
