Here is a classic train story concerning ductape.

One day I was assigned to a local with a single assigned freshly painted Conrail GP38. As I got on the front step to head out up the lead to put our train together I thought something was odd about the pilot of the unit, but I couldn't put my finger on it. Later as I was looking down while standing on the pilot I realized that it was crooked. Obviously the unit had been involved in a minor collision in the past. As I looked closer I noticed the 27 pin MU connector was at an odd angle. The base of it had been ductaped to the pilot. The really hilarious thing was that whomever had painted the unit had painted over several inches of the ductape without repairing the MU connector properly...

We had a good chuckle over that...

LC
